Should my husband still be bathing our daughters?
Winnie is troubled by the way her husband looks at their older daughter but has not confronted the situation.
Dear Uncle Ted,
Hi Uncle Ted,
Mine is simple. When we got married, we decided to share house chores. My husband always insisted on bathing our two daughters, now aged six and eight years, since they were young while I did other chores.
But lately, I have observed that he stares suspiciously at the older girl. I hope I am in a bad dream that will never come true and that my fears will never be confirmed.
Uncle Ted replies
Dearest Winnie,
I note with amusement that instead of dealing with this suspicious matter, you are still doing “other chores” and writing to me. I am also tickled that the only chore that husband of yours can help with in the house is bathing an eight-year-old girl who, for all intents and purposes, is big enough to take care of herself.
If that is what rocks your romantic union, who are we to complain? Well, because of improved diet, your daughter will become a “woman” any time from now and your romantic husband will still be dutifully bathing her while you are doing “other chores”.
But you know how this story will end? One of you is going to get jailed for a very long time, and then you will understand why a man’s role is to provide, not bathe babies!
